Pinterest is one of the most fun and appealing visual social media platforms. Last year, it recorded over 322 million monthly active users, and in 2020, this number will grow by more. With the hype and interest that this social handle gets from audiences, a lot of brands are complementing whether to make Pinterest a part of their social media marketing strategy or not.

For some industries, like photography, fashion, interior designers, bakers, this platform is essential.

A lot of people use it to pin their favorite design on boards, and use it later. But for other industries, the question of whether to invest in this platform or not is a serious question.

If you are wondering the same, here are some tips that help you decide whether Pinterest is essential for your business or not.

1.      Figure out how your industry fits on Pinterest
The platform is unique in terms of gearing users towards specific pins, boards, and promoted search. For instance, the audience can find pins about animals and pets, women fashion, cars, architecture, education, films & books & music, home décor, humor, quotes, men’s fashion, and so on. There are over 35 categories, and you can use at least one of them for your business.

As a business, you have to find out which category you can fit in, and then make boards. You can create appealing images for your business that fits in one of these categories.

For instance, if you are a software developer, you can create a board about the software or language you are using to code it. Then create informative images like easy ways to master agile or so on. It will certainly help get you traffic to your blog and business.

2.      Know if your business develops images for your site
All businesses have websites because that is the best way to engage with customers. If a business has a website, it will have high-quality images for the same. No website can work with high-quality visual content. Now, since you are creating visuals for your business, use it on Pinterest too.

Keeping the above categories in mind, use the best visuals you have and create boards and pin them on those boards. Use the right keywords and description so that users can find your content with ease.

3.      The audience engages better with it
One point that is unique to Pinterest is that it has more engagement than other social media platforms. If you have accounts on Facebook and Instagram, your reach may be higher, but when you will make a Pinterest profile, you will see your audience engage with you better here. Even the referral traffic will be more, which you can check using Google Analytics.

The reason for better engagement is simple- people don’t just share images or quotes on Pinterest, like other platforms. They share their dreams and hopes. When people pin a new interior design or a cake photo or agile training tips, it is not only about liking things.
It is a dream of the audience that they wish to accomplish are looking for ways to help them with it, which your business can provide them.

4.      If you want to show the other side of your business, this is the best platform
A business has many aspects, and you can use this platform to display those sides. It can be fun, or content with deeper thoughts. There are two ways you can do this in two ways. The first way is by creating boards that help solve problems that customers are facing. For instance, people may feel unsure about how to use a product. You can create an infographic and share it on Pinterest.
Similarly, you can highlight the talents that your employees have. It will aid your business to make a deeper connection with your brand.

5.      Higher leads
Another reason why Pinterest can be right for your business is that it helps with higher conversion of leads. Pinterest decreases the time people take from discovery to buying the product, which is another unique ability that other platforms don't have.

Hopefully, these guidelines will help you understand whether to make Pinterest a part of your social media campaign or not. If you do decide to go for it, don’t waste a moment, and set up an account, and understand what your audience is looking for? It is growing rapidly and can be beneficial for a business in numerous ways.
