Online reviews are thorough and comprehensive at the same time. You may find an average “star” to your products or an inadequately written review about one of the user’s bad experience.

An unbiased review regarding the app is very much important. A developer only observes the strongest points where else the negative ones are ignored at a times. Reviews have a powerful effect on the way customers behave with your brand and the mobile app development services.

The important questions that are juggling in the heads of marketers are:
  1. Does the quantity of reviews have an impact on the app ranking in the app store?
  2. Does the quality of reviews impact sales?
  3. How important are they for the marketing campaign?
  4. Will they really give a surprise sell value?

Needless to say, having reviews and ratings help your position to be better than not having any reviews at all.

Do you know, the majority of people are influenced by the reviews which shape their buying and subscribing decisions! They choose not to buy the app with fewer reviews or no reviews at all.

The group of customers who review your app is worth considering as a part of your marketing strategy & App marketing Budget. This group mainly comprises of Millenials and is expected to be the largest consumer in the US. The reviews indicate the brand quality and are considered more important than the word-of-mouth from friends and family.

If your app lacks in getting reviews or star, they may suffer in terms of competition. Top 3 reasons why app reviews are so important!

They shape the buying decisions
Believe it or not, more than 70% of people read app reviews before downloading. This is probably the first thing that the users notice while searching for an app in the app store.

Suppose you have a situation where you have two apps with almost similar functionalities. Which one are you going to choose? Tough question right? In such situations, what if you see an app with reviews and rankings? You would rely more on that one.

The reason behind it is we tend to believe more on the user-generated content. Once you have the idea of your potential app performance, it becomes easy for downloading.

Reviews are credible feedback from the users
Reviews help developers and provide them with the scope of improvement. Some authentic comments and feedbacks help to the business brand as well. They are the roadmap of the user journey for that particular app.
Reviews can give insights into the shortcomings of the app and influence the overall user experience.

Impact the business conversion
The app should be strong enough to maintain user engagement and retention metrics. Once the quality is maintained, it is quite easy to get the reviews from the users. Another surprising fact is, reviews contribute significantly to the search engine results.

Google has also confirmed that it will further improve their algorithm to reward high-quality apps. We can say, reviews now will have a more stronger influence on the app’s ranking in the Google Play Store.  They will help your app more in gaining visibility in the market.

It would be much more appropriate to say that the content you promote should directly influence the end user to give reviews and increase the visibility.

How much is too much?
Some figures are given here which precisely suggest how many reviews you need for the app!

  • Minimum of 60 reviews are required for an online rating;
  • 150 reviews around shall help you achieve app ranking;
  • For gaming apps, 200 reviews are a minimum requirement.

Be polite towards negative reviews
It’s always good to welcome negative reviews and admit your mistakes. They are no more considered as blotches but if taken positively by the developers ensures continuous improvement of the app.

Try that only a small portion of the reviews are negative, otherwise, it may end up creating a negative impact about the app.

Things to do when you receive negative feedback;
  • Respond promptly;
  • Correct the mistakes;
  • Focus on your strength and highlight it;
  • Be consistent in delivering the good user-experience;
  • You can ask your loyal customers to share their experience.

How reviews impact app revenue?
App reviews influence a lot the user’s buying decision and the business conversion which are the key factors behind generating the app revenue. Optimize your app to the level that the user starts spreading the word about it.

The reviews are the source of credibility for the user’s buying decision.  You can also try providing an option to rate your app on different social media channels.

Negative feedbacks will only throw light on the areas that can be improved for betterment by the developers at web and mobile app development company.

Wish your app a happy ranking!
