We’ve heard the news: Twitter has doubled the character limit to 280 from 140. Twitter folks have been using this feature for a while now, but more than just having more space to tweet about one’s day, this update opened a door of opportunity for digital marketing. Marketing on Twitter will never be the same.

Boost Engagement With Twitter’s Double Character Limit

True enough, going for twice the characters than originally available has made Twitter a more marketing-friendly platform. With 280 characters ready for use, you can now better engage your customers through Twitter.

The character limit has a lot of obvious benefits like having increased visibility, promoting ease of writing, saving time, and improving engagement. Here are some more concrete ways on how the doubling of character limit in Twitter can boost your brand’s engagement:

Posting more Tweets using Multiple Languages
Before the update, there was barely enough space, even just for one language. With the update, social media marketers may now use more than one language to a post in order to tap customers who would opt for a language other than English. Doing this is good as it helps you gain more following from foreign-language speakers.

Your followers would truly appreciate it if you started posting with many different languages, especially those that are from other places.

Should you wish to expand your reach, it is highly recommended that you are able to use many different languages in your tweets. That way, you do not limit your engagement to English-speakers but also to different nations and countries which you might source demand from.

Spreading more information in one tweet
If you wish to say a lot through Twitter, you would have to come up with multiple tweets. With the increase in the limit, you are allowed to say more in just one tweet. With this, you would be able to come up with substantial tweets that you can use for promotions.

Longer space provides more space where you can just say much more than you once can. It’s a good idea to convey more message to your followers and readers, and thank the update, you can say twice more than what you got used to.

With space for lengthier text than before, you may now use Twitter to make detailed announcements of your promotions, events, and other marketing initiatives. What really is just wonderful is that you would now be able to relay your entire message via a tweet, a feat that is truly difficult to accomplish in the past.

Tweet with Artistic Expression
Not only are you able to tweet longer now, but you can also make use of the additional space for emoticons and special characters. With not much restrictions due to space, there is just freedom on what to say and to add your artistic touch to your tweets. That way, your followers would see tweets that have more feel to it, making it more engaging. You have to admit, using emoticons sure is the sun. But of course, it’s not just about making your tweet cuter, but making it more readable, hoping to catch more followers through it.

Now that you also have a lot of space for your tweets, ensure that you beautify the way you come up with a tweet. We understand that before, we compress the tweet in as much as we can. With double the limit, you are now able to craft your text better, ensuring that these are more enticing than ever before. There’s space to go creative, so go ahead and do it!

Use line break and Add Two Stories in One Tweet
Having been used to a smaller character limit, you might have been used to write posts that are less wordy. This would give you excess space where you can add in one more tweet. Just use the remaining space for another thing to tell in the same tweet. When you do come up with two stories in just one tweet, make sure that you separate the two with page breakers.

You would also still need to make use of hashtags despite having two stories in just one tweet. Strategically place hashtags within the statement instead, rather than putting them all at the end of each story.

Make use of the limit Increase to engage your brand
Now that there’s more space for you to do social media marketing on Twitter, you should use it to your favor. In the past, marketing via Twitter is a challenge as the content is sometimes too short to be useful, but with double the capacity that once offered, you should make sure to utilize Twitter for promoting your products and services.

Turn your Twitter marketing up a notch and be ready to do your best to it. Twitter has just become a more digital-marketing-friendly platform that you should definitely tap.
