For all the talk about how PPC and SEO are dead, we all know it’s not true. This is exactly why we won’t be discussing it in the article today. Instead, we shall have a look at the importance and the growth of voice search in the digital marketing industry. How digital marketers like us can trust and test the efficiency of things that pan up from this new form of technology.

What you need to know about Voice Search within Digital Marketing.

The Questions We All Want To Ask
Let’s start with a question. Say you are interested in knowing about the current CEO of Microsoft, what do you opt for?
1. Typing your query on the computer in the form of a question?
OR

2. Talking and voicing your query on your phone with the help of certain personal digital assistants like Cortana and Siri?

If you resemble the majority of people in today’s world, then there can be two ways. While typing you would type ‘current CEO Microsoft’. But when voicing the query, you would be more specific.

That is how, without your own conscious decision, you already made one. To choose voice search over typing is what most people consider a great idea.

Let’s face it, we all do that.

Voice search is the new thing right now. Search and its options are finally seeing some growth. At least that’s what the CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella said in an event. “Human Language is the UI layer”- Satya Nadella.

Developers are said to build for the ‘conversational fronts’ which is definitely a new and developed term for an app. This app is the one where people converse in SMSs, chats, emails.

Voice technology and search options have the potential to switch up the things for marketers. That too, in a very beneficial way.

What Exactly Does Voice Search Mean?
When we say the words ‘voice search’, we mean searching with voices. That refers to any desktop or smartphone with a digital assistant that makes use of voice. For example – Amazon Echo and Google microphone.

In most of the cases when you use this digital assistant, you are using the voice search.

Who Is Using The Voice Search?
Well, the answer to that would be pretty much everyone. We, the audience are the largest group of users for these personal digital assistants. From an age group of 18 years to 43 years, we are a very dedicated group using voice search. But then, 44+ people are also very fond of the technology. I mean, who likes small mobile screens and tiny buttons. Voice search is infinite times better and easier to use.

This is exactly the reason why more and more people are adapting to voice search methods. With the advancement of technology, there has been an increase in adoption numbers.

What Do We Use It For?
That is certainly the big question in here. What exactly are we using the voice search for? Studies show that voice search is used for many different reasons ranging from managing tasks to getting information.

This brings us to the prediction of Google for future of voice search. Finally,we are here where we have an assistant to help us figure stuff out.

How Is The Voice Search Seeing Growth In Digital Marketing?
All of the queries from millions of users come through Cortana and Siri. What can we say thanks to for that? Voice search of course. It is true that measuring the number of text inputs and voice inputs for search engines is not possible. But that doesn’t mean that it is not possible with Siri or Cortana.

After careful study, it comes to attention that 33% of the queries of Cortana are from voice search. This is certainly an incredible amount of growth over the last few years.

Impact on the Digital Marketers and Marketing
We certainly are aware that voice input searches have got results as SERPs. There is an interesting fact here. A voice query will lead to a certain SERP with the ads properly served.

How Does Voice Query Differ From Text?
  • Voice query ultimately leads to more searches
  • Natural voice means that phrases and questions will be more specific
  • High value for local SEO with the help of voice searches
  • Effective for the 3rd party listings

A Text For The Future
There is only one thing that we can say now. Voice Search is here for a long time. We will adopt the technology and wrap it up around us like blankets.
