In New Orleans, the air holds on to things. Some people come here to disappear. Others come to be reborn. Writers, artists, and wanderers have claimed it for over a century — lured by its ghosts, its legends, and the way truth and fiction braid together until they’re impossible to tell apart.
It’s a city where history lingers like perfume, where mystery is currency, and where the sounds of jazz spill into the streets, wrapping themselves around every story.
That’s why the Ghostwriting Retreat isn’t happening in some beige hotel ballroom or a remote mountain yurt. It’s here—in a place that understands shadows, thrives on contradictions, and knows how to hold a story long after it’s been told.
A Gathering for People Who Work in the Dark
Ghostwriters spend our careers speaking for others while erasing ourselves from the page.
But when we gather, something shifts, a shorthand emerges, a shared recognition that you can’t fake. There’s no need to explain what “capturing voice” means or why you’ve replayed the same three-minute audio file fifteen times just to catch one perfect turn of phrase.
This retreat isn’t just about skill-building. It’s about connection, belonging, and being in a room where everyone understands the invisible work you do.
You’ll get:
Conversations you won’t find in a course or online group
Morning writing sessions with strong coffee (yoga optional)
Strategies and feedback for your real projects, not hypothetical ones
A jazz brunch that feels like a chapter break
Nights steeped in the strange—tarot, ghost tours, and stories you’ll never put in print
Why Here?
Because New Orleans is contradiction embodied.
It’s haunted and alive. Beautiful and rough-edged. It doesn’t exist to make you comfortable—and neither should your writing.
And yes, because I live here. I know the bookstores that smell like paper and dust, the cafés where the world outside fades into background brass, the corners where history and myth collide. I didn’t pick this city from a travel brochure. It’s my home. And it knows how to host ghosts.
The Setting
We’ll stay in a fantastic home, not a chain hotel. Meals will be shared. Pages will be read aloud. There will be quiet corners for writing, bursts of laughter, and late-night conversations you’ll wish you recorded.
We’ll take a ghost tour. Stroll streets named for poets. Let the music follow us from one neighborhood to the next. And for a few days, we’ll stop pretending we don’t exist.
Who This Is For
This retreat is for the ghostwriter, or soon-to-be ghostwriter, who wants:
A sharper, more intentional craft
Honest conversations with people who get it
Space to figure out what’s next, and the clarity to act on it
A break from writing in isolation
Not Just Time Away — A Reset
Yes, you’ll step away from deadlines. But more than that, you’ll step back into the version of yourself who writes without an audience in mind—the one who remembers why you started before client calls and deliverables took over.
There are only 10 spots, and some are already claimed. This isn’t a pressure pitch, it’s an opening. To step away, step in, and write like it matters again.
Because it does. And so do you. Hope to see you there!
