Though it’s a professional social network, LinkedIn allows room for you to offer up more than just your resume. It’s a snapshot of your professional life, the foundation of your public reputation, and then some. It also doesn’t require constant attention – set it up well and then pop in regularly to maintain and it’ll just keep working for you. You want to make full use of your headline and summary to draw people in, so they want to read more and connect. Putting “Attorney at Law” under your name may be factual, but it’s far from interesting. “Seeker of Justice?” Now that’s someone I want to know more about. Don’t be afraid to have a personality. Professional doesn’t automatically mean stuffy and serious. That goes for your summary as well. It’s your first impression, so don’t waste it.
