SEO is a method in which a search engine evaluates how user-friendly your website is. After doing so, you get a rank in their results, based on how relevant your content is, and how much the experience a visitor has on your site corresponds to what that visitor expected.

You can use and control SEO to bring more organic traffic.

As opposed to paid traffic, which is made of people who might or might not be interested in what you’re selling, organic traffic consists of people who got on your site because they needed what you offer.

Natural traffic might represent a relatively small number of people, depending on your business’ profile. However, it’s essential to have a specific target audience, because selling your products to everyone is just too general for this market. Moreover, those who aren’t in dire need of your services will land on your page and navigate away as fast as they arrived, increasing your bounce rate.
How to make sure you reach as much organic traffic as possible?

First of all, optimize your website for mobile devices. You can be selling the best thing your customers could ever need or want. If they have to wait more than 2 seconds for the pages to load, they might leave your site. Also, if there are bothering pop-ups that obstruct them from navigating, they will do the same. If possible, allow cache tracking, so that some elements of your website will be stored in the visitors’ temporary memory. This way, the next time they enter your site, some of the information will be retrieved from your servers, and some from their own device, cutting the loading time.

Secondly, make sure the content you’re delivering is what they need. Avoid long phrases, fancy words, and wordy formulations. The more succinct the message, the better.

Also, pay attention to the quality of the content you’re offering. Create unique text that has just enough keywords or key phrases that are suitable for the topic you’re covering. As much as possible, try not to duplicate content or rewrite articles to sound differently, because these are Black Hat practices and might do more harm than good for your business.

In the third place, check your website’s architecture and design. How fast do the pages load? Are JavaScript, CSS and image files working properly? What is the schema (or the backbone) of your website? All these influence your rank, and your web developer should give you some hints about them so that you know what can be improved.

Another thing to keep track of is your users’ behavior on your website – how many navigate away after seeing only one page (the bounce rate)? How many of them click the links (CTR rate)? These two metrics impact the overall image of the crawler on your website. Make sure that there are more visitors who know what they’ll find on your page than visitors who have no idea how they got there.

To increase your chances of getting organic traffic, include title tags and meta-data in your content. The title tag is what the users see in the results, while the meta-data is the brief description of the web page that appears below the title. Create distinctive descriptions for each page, and attribute them titles that have a maximum length of 6 words.
