​What makes me unique
I've written a variety of stories for clients, from the life story of an Austin 7 car to that of a Vietnam War veteran. I live in Australia but I can write your story no matter where you are, with the help of video software such as Zoom.

All you have to do is give me the information during our interview sessions and I'll do all the work - shaping it into a compelling and entertaining story, ready to give to a publisher, if that's your aim.

Robin Storey has been writing for over 20 years in non-fiction and memoirs with experience in business leadership focused on motivational and health fitness as well as book doctoring.

How and why I became a writer
Writing is my job and I know it sounds cliched, my passion. It's a part of who I am. However I didn't have the confidence to follow that passion straight from school, but later, as a young mother, I enrolled in a Freelance Writing Course. From that point, there was no stopping me!

Past work experience and what I'm working on now
I've been writing professionally for 25 years, starting off as a freelance writer for the print media (pre-digital), after I finished my course. Then I progressed to creative writing, publishing a number of short stories and fiction novels, as well as my own memoir on surviving breast cancer.

The experience of writing fiction novels has enabled me to develop the storytelling skills that are necessary no matter what type of book you're writing - how to hook the reader from the first page, maintain pace and flow to keep the reader interested and to end with a satisfactory resolution.

At present I am working on the memoir of a woman about her struggles with the aged care system to get proper care for her husband with dementia. Very poignant!

Writing advice for those reading
Read as widely as you can. I have attended numerous workshops over the years on all aspects of writing, which are great, but I credit reading good books as having had the most impact on improving my writing.

Getting critical feedback on your work is also important, as you can't improve if you don't know what your flaws are.​
