The Next ALS-type Craze: #WakeUpSelfies

The Ice Bucket Challenge was wildly successful, but it appears to have spawned an evil seed. This seed is the vague notion that “calling out” fellow social media participants to do your bidding is a good idea.

It’s not.

Who doesn’t love helping out a good cause? That isn’t what this about though. This is about people getting just WAY too pushy and judgy about their “clickitivism” and cause-shaming others into participating. Sound extreme? Wait till it takes hold and becomes the norm and we’ll see if you agree! Because it will. And #WakeUpSelfies are probably the first step before we all go sliding at a breakneck speed down this slippery slope.
