Teens Wish They Were As Sneaky As You Think

Are teens really the deceiving and sneaky creatures we’re notorious for being? And are app developers trying to find ways to capitalize on said sneakiness?
Here’s the truth: there isn’t some mysterious app we teens are using to hide things on our phones. It isn’t that we don’t want to, it’s that no such thing exists. I’ve personally never used or heard of an app that does such a thing, and upon asking around, neither have any of my peers – though we all think it sounds like a good idea!

Seeing as we aren’t the most sentimental group of people out there, we tend to just delete things we don’t want to be seen. Or, we’ll just watch over our phones like hawks to make sure they don’t end up in anyone else’s hands. It can be a bit of work, which is why most teens I asked expressed the desire for an app that would require a password to view their photos or text messages.

As teenagers, it’s in our nature to be secretive. It’s not like we have all these awful, disgusting things on our phones. It’s just that these things are ours, and we don’t want others to see them.

So here’s what you need to remember:

  • Teens aren’t using apps to hide things
  • We want to
If you’re an app developer reading this, I’d say to get on this idea. However, make sure the app is free. If there’s anything teenagers hate more than having their privacy invaded, it’s paying for things.

Special note to the grown-ups in our world, for future reference – a typical rule of thumb when a teenager shows you something on their phone would be not to swipe left or right, or scroll up or down. If you value your life, simply look and return.

Is there a strategy or app you use to hide your personal pictures and conversations on your phone? Comment below (we promise we won’t tell)!
