However, there have been numerous times where people were furious over app updates that they eventually got used to. A big one was video coming to Instagram. At the height of Vine’s popularity, Instagram announced that they would be adding a feature where users could upload videos. People were furious and believed Instagram was ripping off Vine and would take away all their business. For weeks, people ranted on Twitter, however the anger eventually blew over and Instagram video became an average part of social media.
Facebook is also notorious for unpopular updates. Although it was a long time ago, I remember everyone being upset about Facebook’s switch over to a timeline as opposed to a wall. That’s when a lot of younger kids strayed away from Facebook. However, most Facebook users learned to accept and use their timeline rather than mourn their wall. I think Facebook really gained their reputation once they made it so the only way to send and receive messages is to download the messenger app. People were up in arms when they found out how much the messenger app invades privacy. Personally, I refused to download it once I heard that they would be able to hack into your camera and watch you. However, most people downloaded the app and use it. It could go either way with Snapcash, however, I’m leaning towards flop, Luckily, since it’s not something vital to the app, users can continue to use Snapchat as they did previously with no interruption. What do you think of Snapcash, and other app updates? Have you fallen in love with any that surprised you? Let me know in the comments! IMAGE CREDIT: ALMUDENA FERNANDEZ
