Social media is tricky – sometimes an innocent campaign can go horribly wrong, or your anger can get the best of you. Even posts you forgot about can come back and bite you in the booty. What do you do when it’s too late to take something back online?

#AskSeaWorld  Campaign Goes Awry

As if SeaWorld doesn’t have enough problems since Blackfish, the marine park recently began an #AskSeaWorld social media campaign, complete with a special website, where anyone wishing to can ask a question about animal care and conservation. Unfortunately, the most interested parties have been PETA and other activists demanding answers about alleged mistreatment of the park’s animals, and other hot button topics. SeaWorld is doing its best to manage the social crisis, but they’ve definitely got their work cut out for them.

Got a Shameful Social History? “Clear” Could Be Your Solution

Politicians, public figures, and those associated with them know they need to open their closet doors and reveal all skeletons to the public, lest they appear to be hiding anything. Sometimes those skeletons mean a change in trajectory – like it did for Ethan Czahor who resigned from the Jeb Bush campaign thanks to some old and unsavory tweets. Now Czahor hopes to help others avoid his fate with Clear – a new “intelligent processing” app that helps you find those old posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter so you can delete them before they come back to haunt you. Not a bad idea – though the best one is not to post anything that can get you into trouble in the first place.

Whether you’re just getting started with social media as a marketing tool, or need a little fresh inspiration, you can check in here each week for a dose of what’s good (or bad) in the social sphere.
