You Need to Know What to Say, and How to Say It
To be a successful marketer, you need to not only know what you have to say, but also how to say it. As a writer, you’ll be able to choose the right words, as well as use the right tone and style, that will attract and retain the attention of your audience and encourage them to make a purchase. So even though it’s definitely wise to look into the online marketing degree programs that are available from schools like Arizona State University so you can get your online bachelor of science in marketing, you should also spend your time in school taking courses that will make you a more creative and effective writer.

Writers Know How to Convey the Right Message
As a proficient writer, you’ll be able to communicate with your audience in a way that will let them know exactly what you want them to know. After all, when it comes to marketing and promotional copy in ads or on websites, you need to be able to get your reader’s attention and prove that you can solve a problem that they face. You need to know how to communicate all of the essential elements about your services or your products, and you need to generate high quality content that people will want to share with their friends on social media.

You Need to Sell Without Selling
Customers don’t like being told what to do or what to buy, and they certainly don’t like feeling as though they’re being forced into making a purchase. As a writer who has the creative ability to write copy without it feeling like sales copy, you’ll be able to keep readers’ attention and entice them to ask for more information or make a purchase.

You Need to Convey a Sense of Urgency, Too
Finally, a great writer will know how to market a product or service with the necessary sense of urgency in the content that’s being shared. With the right skills, you’ll able to tell your customer what direction they need to take next, whether that’s joining your mailing list, contacting you, or placing an order. These calls to action are important, but they need to be written in a way that will create a sense of urgency in the customer so they won’t feel like they can simply leave and come back later.

As you can see, there are several reasons why you need to be a good writer if you want to be a good marketer, so definitely consider taking courses if you feel you need to improve.
