Marketing is essential for any business, but complex jargon and techniques used by full-time marketing pros often leave DIY’ers feeling left out in the cold, unable to compete.

What if there was a new iPhone app aimed at leveling the playing field so rising entrepreneurs could market their products and services as expertly as the bigwigs? Just so happens, there is.
Google is addressing the gap between big-budget companies and DIY startups with a new app called Google Primer. Working in conjunction with industry professionals, Google is providing users a quick, easy but comprehensive way to learn the ropes without getting hung up on technical mumbo-jumbo.

The idea is to save time (and money), since self-education is often the most effective way of learning a specific subject. The startup user can access this information anytime, anywhere at will. It's like carrying a language guide on a trip through a foreign land.

Currently it is only available for iOS, but Android is next. Since the app is still in the development stages, Google promises even more helpful features in the future.

The app is designed to be interactive as well as instructional. A few benefits:

  • A wide range of instructional programs, including Search Engine Marketing, Getting Media Coverage, and Content Marketing
  • Users can engage in various activities via emailed “assignments” that will help them test themselves on their newfound knowledge and skills
  • Users can travel without worrying about losing a signal, since the app works offline, so they can do quick research while on the subway, headed toward an important client meeting
With this new service Google is also promoting its own ad-tech products, which in itself is a valuable lesson in smart marketing. So do what Google does – after all, they’re doing pretty well.

What do you think marketers? Is Google Primer just what you’ve been waiting for? If not, reach out and #SayBoo if we can help.
