Introducing our new, weekly contest - Ghost in a Flash! Starting today, every Friday we'll be sharing a "ghost in a flash" activity that will help you capture a voice, while having fun! It will be a quick writing activity (limited to 300 words or less per entry) and also a CONTEST where you can win a few bucks.
HEre's How it Works:
Join our Facebook group to participate (as that is where the votes will be tallied) - and watch for the weekly writing prompt, with the focus of that week's activity. When posted, prepare and post your entry as a comment. Other members will vote for it by emojis (every reaction is a vote).
The contest will consist of a brief character intro (often a famous person, but definitely someone you can research), along with a quick "capture their voice" activity - the goal of the piece you are tasked to create. You'll have until Thursday at midnight CST (the following week) to submit your entry and get votes (submitting late is not advised, as no one will see it/get a chance to vote for it!). And every Friday, as the new Ghost in a Flash is announced, we'll announce the previous week's winners! All entries will be published here, along with a link to your website (so be sure to add that to your entry!), with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries indicated. And there's a cash prize as well. $10 for first place, and $5 each for 2nd and 3rd place. It's a great way to practice capturing a voice AND helping people find your work online. Ready? Let's goooooo . . . 12/11/20 Contest - Sophia's Historical Fiction
We're going to have a good bit of fun by capturing the voices of some spunky older ladies from the hit U.S. TV Series - The Golden Girls! We'll eventually get through all four of them, but not in order (so don't try to write ahead, as you won't see any of them next week!) - and each will be seeking a ghostwriter to help with a different kind of writing regardless!
Today, we have Sophia, the feisty matriarch of the bunch who has decided to try her hand at a bit of historical fiction, based in Sicily, 1923. She's decided to cast a fictionalized version of herself as the protagonist in this first-person novel, as she makes her way through life during this post-war/pre-war period. In this flash, we meet her for the first time, reflecting as an older woman on her life as this young woman/possibly child (we'll leave that to you). 300 words or less! Good luck!
