You can’t really talk about contemporary crime fiction without the name of Eric Beetner coming up. The guy is just plain everywhere, doing seemingly everything, known to pretty much everyone in the indie lit community.​

This universal respect for his ubiquitous presence is well-earned. He’s one of the most talented and accomplished writers in his field. But he works at it, hard, setting a standard of dedication and craftsmanship for all of his peers to admire and follow.

Some of my favorite writers (filmmakers, artists, musicians, etc.) defy definition, because the scope of their original vision and voice is broad and eclectic.

Of course, all writers, and people, are unique individuals. It’s just that some are bolder and brighter when it comes to creative expression, since they’re deeply in tune and touch with their artistic instincts.​

Author/editor/journalist/indie lit legend Gabino Iglesias fits into that category, because he doesn’t really fit into any category.
