Every blogger has the tendency to acquire awful blog routines. In fact, it comes naturally as you get comfortable with the task.

  • Avoid thinking of blogging as a simple thing
  • Learn from bloggers that are already high ranking, and use their strategies as you are blogging
  • The more blogs you write, the more ways potential readers have of finding you via searching results
  • When your readers notice that you are willing to engage with them, they are sure to come back again

Avoid these terrible blogging practices!

If you need a hand at some point, the blogger that posted on your site may be happy to help. This will ensure that your blog succeeds.

Rather than dealing with it on a worst case scenario, you need to immediately assess your blog routines and check if you are doing some malpractice, just like the ones mentioned here –

10 awful blog routines that you must avoid:
  1. Procrastination – Bloggers are expected to be messengers of current events, so it’s important to live up to it. Once you encounter ideas that you want to share through your blog, accomplish it right away! Avoid postponing things because you might lose your chance of featuring the topic ahead of others. And as a result, you might lose your focus in blogging it.
  2. Making it hard on yourself – Do not push too hard when you write a blog. It is not a school thesis and it doesn’t even have to be lengthy. Other blogs continue to exist with only one sentence and a photo. Just write naturally and don’t worry about metaphors and punch lines.
  3. Not considering comments that the reader leave – There are readers who tend to use the comments section to ask the writer questions and tell their opinion. If you don’t ignore them and answer their questions timely, they will feel that you appreciate your audience. If there are no active participation between the blogger and the reader especially when it comes to commentaries, the readers would certainly go to find blogs where the authors will provide them with full attention and thorough information.
  4. Does not check / proofread accomplished blog posts – Proofreading is a time-tested publishing process that just has to take place, even on a blog. If you don’t check your texts before publishing, the readers may feel you consider them not worth getting quality articles and might start attracting everybody’s attention to the mistakes found there. That will certainly harm your reputation.
  5. Not proactive - While everybody’s talents are different, not every person has a particular talent of spontaneous writing. Even if you are great at it, it’s still a good idea to have some sort of outline for your blog entry. Relying too much on your spontaneity can result to a sub-par article composed of scattered thoughts.
  6. Doesn’t care about the blog’s lay out – tHiS iS NoT fUn To rEaD. Even pre-school children are not using those, so better drop the idea.
  7. Producing negative feeling over and over  – It’s tempting to use a blog as a place to vent out your pent up feelings. But you should keep in mind that constant monotonous ranting will never result in anything positive. It can even be so contagious that your readers will carry in their hearts the negativity on your article.
  8. Letting yourself be interrupted with other things – You don’t have to check your email and Facebook updates every minute. And do not mind your stats! Distracting websites can affect your blogging productivity. If you really must limit the time spent on distractors and focus on your work instead.
  9. Speaking all the time about yourself only – We all know it’s your personal blog, but reading about I, I, I and me, me, me all the time is just too boring. Make a change by introducing some other people in your article. Let the audience read about something that isn’t yourself .
  10. Focusing more on social media – While they may be a valuable tool for advertising your blog, devoting most of your time to them is just a bad idea. Other bloggers are giving away most of their time on checking what’s new on Facebook and they fail to remember the updates on their blog.

There is no need for you to wait for New Year just to establish a change. While these little rules might seem petty to outsiders, they may make a difference for the future of your blog. You’re unique and you should leverage this fact to your advantage. Remember to always be on the lookout for new blogging strategies. If you do this, it should be easy for you to create an interesting, successful blog.
